Babies need lots of nutritious foods to develop their brains and bodies. It is also necessary to build their immune system. Once babies reach six months of age, it is recommended that they start on solid foods. By solid food I mean soft food. The easiest way is to buy baby food jars, but who knows how many preservatives and other added ingredients are in those food jars. You can make your own baby food if you want.

Making baby food is not difficult. It’s a lot easier than you might think, and you can make a lot of variety. All you need is a small pot and a blender; add the ingredients, of course. Then you can prepare yourself. With baby food, you want to make meals as natural as possible. So only vegetables and fruits will appear. No added salt, sugar or other additives.

Fruit-based baby foods can consist of one or more fruits. You can mash bananas for dessert, or you can mash strawberries. For an interesting option, you can add the two together. Apples are also a good fruit. Peel the apples, cut into slices, and cook until tender. You can mash or mix with a fork.

With vegetable-based baby foods, you can try different options. You can cook sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots or walnuts. Using a blender, you can blend potatoes with any of the vegetables above. Alternatively, you can mix and serve each vegetable individually.

You can also add chicken to these meals. Be sure to cook the chicken breasts thoroughly before mixing. You may need to add a little water or milk while blending so it reaches a smooth consistency that your baby can digest.

A blender that can blend fruits and vegetables into a smooth, soft consistency at high speed would be the ideal meal prep equipment for your kids. When you prepare your own vegetables and fruits, you know exactly what’s in the food and what you’re giving your child – a natural, wholesome meal. If you make too much baby food, you can store it in a small food jar or ice cube tray and freeze it for another day.
